Agrodome Rotorua – Sheep Show & Woollen Mill
Experience Agrodome’s world famous sheep show in an action-packed hour of farming entertainment!
You’ll be introduced to 19 breeds of sheep; witness a live sheep shearing demonstration and even have the chance to bid on a sheep in the lively auction.
But it’s not just about the sheep. Be amazed by the remarkable Huntaway dogs and the Strong-eye Heading dog as they demonstrate their ability to respond to commands and keep those sheep in line!
If a hands-on experience is what you want, then jump up on stage for the opportunity to feed the lambs or even hand-milk a cow!
The action doesn’t stop there – when it’s all over inside, head out to the farm to observe the talent of the Strong Eye dog in a live dog trial with three sheep, or pop into the Woollen Mill to take in the history of the wool industry.
Witness aspects of wool processing including carding and spinning and see the Platt wool carding machine, made in the UK in 1906 – still working as well as the day it started. View a large range of homespun, hand knitted/woven garments made with pure New Zealand wool. As for keen knitters… you’ll be excited to see an array of wools including sheep, goat, alpaca, opossum and angora.
