Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park has been a favourite destination since 1932.  A natural spring of fresh water has given them the ability to conserve a special part of New Zealand.

Spread over 22 acres of parkland, Rainbow Springs offers a truly unique experience and is a must-see for anyone wanting to get to know New Zealand’s wonderful environment and animals, both during the day and at night.  Your ticket allows unlimited entry for 24 hours so there is no additional charge to visit the nocturnal animals.

A combination of natural elements, the quiet majesty of the native bush, ferns, trees and plants, makes this park uniquely New Zealand.  Crystal clear cold water flows tirelessly from subterranean springs which are home to Rainbow, Brown and Tiger trout and Brook Char, that cruise the deep fern fringed pools.

You also learn more about kiwi conservation with a visit to Kiwi Encounter.  Operated by the National Kiwi Trust and located on site at Rainbow Springs, this unique scientific attraction allows you an insight into the entire process of kiwi conservation – from kiwi egg collection in the wild, incubation, hatching and then raising of the kiwi until it’s ready to be released back into the wild.  This option includes a 45 minute guided tour which departs on the hour from 10.00 am till 4.00 pm daily.

Finish off your day in Rotorua by strolling through Rainbow Springs at night.  Your ticket to Rainbow Springs allows unlimited entry to the park for a 24 hour period so pop back and explore!

Cleverly designed, multi-coloured lights create an entirely new atmosphere, highlighting all the best parts of our park and some parts you might not have noticed during your daytime visit.   And one of the great features of the night experience is the walk-through kiwi enclosure where you can view kiwi in a glass-free open air environment.

Begin your evening with a scrumptious buffet BBQ overlooking the stunning Rainbow Springs waterfall and gardens.  You will then be treated to an insight to the ecology of New Zealand and some up close encounters with native and introduced species.  The evening concludes back at the Wairere cafe for Desert and Hot Drinks.
